Video Update

Max is doing great. He weighed over 11 pounds on Monday and is in the higher percentiles for height and weight. Not unlike Aidan at this point. He's a little different from Aidan in his sleep patterns, he does well at night, but his naps are hit or miss. Max is always one step ahead us, we think we've got him figured out and then....it's cry time. We'll see if we can catch up.

The Golden Hour

Once Aidan was born, Heather and I would sit around wondering what we did with our free time. Now we sit around and wonder what we did with Aidan. As my mom would say, there's a lesson there. I, of course, don't know what it is.

We've now found the Golden Hour. It's around 8pm. Aidan just goes down and Max is still sleeping waiting for his 9:30 feeding. The house is quiet, the day is done, and we can exhale. Of course that lasts a short time before the fear of the upcoming night takes us. That's when we get scared to go to sleep because we have no idea what Max has in store for us.

It seems like I'm complaining a lot. I'm not, but I kind of am....

In the majority of Max pictures he's wearing this outfit. I promise he has more clothes.

My parents were in town for Easter. I think we did a good enough job of convincing Aidan that they were here to see him! I'm just kidding, kind of. According to my mom, she has two perfect Grandsons. Shocking, I know.

Max is doing well. He's had two good nights of sleep in a row. That of course was preceded by a few bad nights. What's a bad night? When he wakes up between the 3 and a half hours of sleep he usually has before feedings.

Aidan dyed his first Easter eggs.
One of the few pictures where Max is awake.
Easter morning.

I think Aidan is happy because Max is crying....

Muscle Memory

There's a reason why great athletes like myself are great. Muscle memory. They practice so much at such a high level, the body remembers how to throw a ball from second to first or put a shot in the upper 90.

Taking care of a newborn is the same thing. Right now, Max's schedule dictates that he eats around 3:30am. From the sound of his first cry, for the next 30 minutes everything I do comes from muscle memory. I'm not even sure I'm awake during this time, but he gets fed, burped, changed and put back to sleep. While my body remembers and knows what to do, my brain wipes it out.

Currently, it seems like Heather and I are either feeding the kids, or cleaning. That takes up most of our day. When 2pm rolls around and it's time for Aidan's nap we're both on the couch. A reason why we're cleaning so much, is that Max likes to make a poopie when we take his diaper off. It usually comes out of nowhere and when you think he's done, it keeps coming. I'm not sure where he keeps all of it. Good times.

Aidan had a similar picture to this. Lets see if my Dad likes it as much this time around.
I think this is when we brought Max home. As you can see, Aidan was thrilled.

We're Home

Yesterday was our first day home, which also means we made it through our first night. And it was.....not bad! Max, only cried when it was time to be fed and other than that we made it through the night.

Since Aidan still lives with us, and this was his blog originally, he got to meet Max yesterday as well. When we pulled up, he came out on the porch very excited and saying "Max home!" When we brought Max up to Aidan, he wasn't to happy. He kept saying "no," and not wanting to get close. Not unexpected.

By the end of the day, he was giving Max kisses and patting him on the head. To no ones surprise, he's a good big brother.

Mom and her boys.
I have heavier eyes then he does.
Hmmm.
Well, that's not too bad.
That's the difference between a 2 yr old and a 5 day old. Speaking of, I'm not sure if it's because we didn't see Aidan for a few days, or we were hanging out with a newborn. But Aidan is gigantic all of a sudden.

This isn't very exciting footage, but you get a good look at Max. We're home tomorrow!

Everyone Say Hi to Max ? Waner

About 3 hours after Gary an Ann got to DC, Heather and I were on a late night drive across the city. 9 hours after that, we had another baby!

Heather did great, of course. She's a trooper.

Some initial thoughts, and my thoughts aren't very organized right now because we're a little short on sleep.
*I didn't feel the same initial fear I had when Aidan was born. Meaning, I wasn't terrified I was going to break his arm when putting on Max's shirt.
*While Max was technically bigger then Aidan at birth(Max came in at a whopping 8 pounds 14 ounces) I feel like Max is smaller. I think I don't remember, and I'm use to Aidan being big.
*Speaking of being use to Aidan, Max does not respond when talked to. He doesn't say, "hi daddy," or tell us what he wants. Have to get use to that again.
*When Max cries, he turns a bright, bright red. If I didn't know better I would think he has a really bad sun burn.
*His head is full of black, soft hair. It's my favorite part right now.
*The title of the blog has temporarily changed, Aidan gets to keep the web address, but Max takes the title. I'm sure I'll hear about this in 20 years.
*I'm already mixing up the names, and have had to go through this post to make sure I didn't call Max, Aidan, or vice versa.
*Enjoy the pictures, check back often.

Meet Max.

I do remember from last time that the belly button issue is gross. I also wish I had bought stock in the company that makes those blankets that Max is on. I'd be loaded.
