Mark's Night-Update/Mother's Day!

Finally, some pictures of Mark's night. And we'll even use his wording to caption them. Everything went well, he sent us two texts during dinner. One, "his lungs work," and I'm not gonna say what the other was.

Also, Happy Mother's Day! It's fun, we got to add a holiday this year. I've mentioned them before, Mark's friends who just had a baby as well, but it's interesting hearing their newborn stories. They're oddly similar to ours, as in the toys aren't really for the babies, they're for us. The toys buy us a few minutes of peace at a time, and it's fantastic.

The big news is Heather, sadly, goes back to work tomorrow. We'll leave it at that, but yes, I have four weeks of vacation now (and yes, that joke has already been used).

“Hi, I’m Aidan. Thought I’d have my personal assistant keep track of my big night with Uncle Mark. You can tell by the look on my face, I’m not completely sold on this development.”

“The service here is terrible…it’s like the chef had no idea how long it takes to heat a bottle of milk.”

“At least it’s full service.”

Shhhhhhh…..don’t tell.”

“Nothing whets the appetite for my 10:45 meal like a nap and a bear hug.”

First things first, last night went. I'm having a hard time downloading the pictures from the evening so that story will have to be told tomorrow.

More pictures from Tennessee, look over the last couple days if you haven't visited in awhile.

Nope, that's not Aidan, it's Lily! I think she's excited she made the blog.
Heather with Jack and Andrew. Andrew makes his debut as well.

Back to you Aidan.

3 Years!

In about 25 minutes Heather and I will have been married for three years. And because it's the internet and sarcasm is difficult to detect, I'll refrain from a cheesy line about how long it's actually felt. Instead, I'll take advice from the film Wedding Crashers and speak from the heart. Without question it's the best thing I've ever done, I like to think I'm a better man, son, brother, friend and human being because of Heather and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I love you, Heather.

I'm at work, sshhh, and didn't have a wedding picture to put up. I decided on this one because it was a fun trip, we look cool, and it's hot today and I'll soon be wishing it was cool.

For our anniversary we're going out to dinner. Guess who is baby sitting? Uncle Mark. Mark has never changed a diaper nor done a complete feeding. In fact he said about tonight, "worst case scenario is that you guys come home, Aidan's hungry, crying, and lying in his own pee - but at least he's alive." Now, I know Mark is kidding, but I wanted to take the opportunity to throw a question out to the loyal readers of the blog (all 4 of you), and I want some comments people!
Will Mark a) do a fantastic job
b) do a so-so job
c) live up to his quote
d) add your own comment
With that said, we are grateful for Mark tonight. Please look at yesterdays blog to get the first pictures from a trip to Tennessee. They're continued below.....

As I said about April and Ali, Aidan was probably in better hands with Ann and Gary then Heather and I.

I think this is a great picture of April and Aidan.
Aidan is getting use to the recliner.
A good family photo.

We're Back and 11 Weeks

First, I apologize for how long it's been since I last posted. Ali yelled at me, ok it wasn't at me and she probably didn't yell, but the point was made. She's one of the nicest people I know so it must be bad.

The trip to Tennessee was fantastic, and Gary and Ann were nice enough to watch Aidan for a few days. On Sunday we got a call from Ann and I have the feeling she missed Aidan more than Heather and me, who can blame her.

Aidan turned 11 weeks old today. We're attempting to get his last feeding a little earlier in the evening. So far so good.

Forgive me if I get a little personal with this next paragraph. On Sunday I walked in on Heather and she was a little upset. She was putting away, for good, some of Aidan's "baby clothes." These were the clothes that didn't fit him anymore, which is unbelievable. I started watching and began feeling the same way. By no means is he big, but he's not a newborn anymore and frankly it's a little sad. Of course, we don't get a chance to realize this when we're in the dirty diapers, feedings, late nights, fun walks, new smiles and bath time. For me, and I'm not sure where Heather stands, but it was a moment(maybe the first) that I felt like a "true parent." I was happy and sad, excited about Aidan's future and a little tentative. I realized that he would never know how much I love him until he has children, and then I wanted to call my parents.

Ok, sorry about that, but we sure did miss the little guy while he was with Gary and Ann...another new experience. Let's get on with the pictures and please check back frequently. We have a lot of pictures to go over.

P.S. This is the first of many installments involving the trip. Stay tuned more more cousins and Aunties!

Heather and Aidan in his first McDonald's. Don't make it a habit.

Aidan chilling going South on 81.
Gary and Ann enjoying Aidan and vice versa.
Aidan meeting his cousin Jack for the first time!
Too cute!

Video!

I'm not gonna lie, when Heather showed me this video it warmed me up a little bit.

The video is a couple weeks old, but it gives you an idea of where Aidan is in terms of interacting with people.

We're on the road this weekend and traveled with him yesterday. The trip to Tennessee took a little longer thanks to stopping and feeding him a couple of times. But overall he did very well.

More on the trip later, but he got to meet his cousin Jack for the first time, and he's hanging out with Nanna and Poppi. And of course he's smiled more at them then he has with us in the last week combined.

Also, we got some good news today, Grannie visits on May 16th. I guess my challenge worked.

9 With a Visitor

We had a big few days. On Monday, we had a surprise visitor.......Uncle Clyde! He made it down for the day while on a trip to Delaware. Aidan put on the charm, of course. Now it's time to give my mom a hard time. Uncle Clyde has now seen Aidan as many times as mom, I think a trip is in order.

On Tuesday, Aidan turned 9 weeks old, and we decided to dress him in a toga. Actually, during his naps we keep one of his arms out of his swaddler just to get him use to the idea of not sleeping with one.
Not sure how he likes that idea.
For turning 9 weeks he won a trip to the doctors for a check-up. He's a little over 13 pounds, and he's 25.5 inches long. That and he got four shots, two in each thigh. Aidan did fine when he got them, but was a little cranky at night. Besides the shots, the doctor got him to roll over for the first time. Once this was accomplished he had a "what was that about" look on his face. Then he started crying because he didn't know what else to do. If I'm not considered a bad father, I was laughing the whole time of the rolling incident.

Two Months!

Aidan turned 2 months old on Saturday. I'm a little behind in getting some posts up that I want, so check back frequently.

When Aidan turned 1 month old, I put him next to our remote. To compare him now, you'll have to look back through the blog. But, wow, he's grown.

Enjoying his sun hat.
This is actually a good picture because it shows you how serious he can be. And I'm serious about that.
Ditto.
And then there's this look. I think Heather was doing something behind me to get him to look my direction.
